Our Team

Lisa

Lisa is an Occupational Therapist with over 20 years of experience serving the Bay Area geriatric population. She has worked with patients in hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, adult day care, and home health. In addition to Occupational Therapy, she has a master’s degree in counseling and has a certification in Home Safety and Accessibility and Assistive Technology. Lisa has worked with many disadvantaged patients who can’t afford durable medical equipment, as many items are not covered by their health insurance. Lisa has spent years going to second hand durable medical equipment sites to get equipment for patients. Lisa realizes that there aren’t any durable medical equipment recycling sites on the west side of San Francisco. There are many elderly and disabled individuals with no means of getting to the equipment recycling sites. Lisa’s goal is to collect donated durable medical equipment and personally deliver them to people in need in the west side. Lisa hopes to help as many people as possible on the west side with the help of her junior co-founders of West Side Second Chance Assist.

Chloe

Chloe is a senior at the Urban School of San Francisco. Her volunteer experience includes assisting the elderly and she seeks to continue to do so to this day. After witnessing her grandfather’s struggle with mobility and independence due to health issues, she realized how crucial medical devices are for a better quality of life. Understanding that many people in her community lack access to these essential tools, she is determined to help bridge the gap. Chloe is committed to ensuring that everyone, regardless of their financial and living situation, has the opportunity to live independently through access to the medical technology they need.

Tanner

Tanner is a senior at St. Ignatius College Preparatory. He has had many years of volunteer experience and has served all different kinds of experiences, specifically concerning marginalized populations. Some examples include working with adults and children with special needs and providing food to the elderly who are less fortunate. Tanner is excited for a chance to help a new group of people: people that are unable to afford medical equipment due to a variety of reasons. Many people are not able to get the help they need as this is not a widely known issue in the community. Tanner hopes to bring awareness to this growing problem for future generations, as well as provide high-quality medical equipment in the present.

Fun Fact: Chloe and Tanner have been friends since preschool!
